Tom Habscheid was born in 1986 in Luxembourg and grew up in Useldingen.
Tom started his sporting career at the FC Jeunesse Useldange (football), but was forced to stop due to his handicap. After football he tried different sports like bicycling, basketball, skiing, skateboarding, inline skating, fitness & swimming.
None of them really appealed to him until he saw the Olympic and Paralympic games in 2012: Athletics!
He joined Celtic in Diekirch were he very successfully discovered discus throwing.
In 2013 Tom received a wildcard to the World Championships in Lyon, where he secured solid a 5th place!!
And in 2014 did Tom win his first World Cup in Switzerland in discus throwing, and was the runner-up at the European champion in discus throwing and 6th in shot put.
It was time to move on and to put the goals higher, so Tom joined C.A. Dudelingen in 2015.
The success story continued in 2016 with his participation at the Paralympics in Rio, resulting in a fantastic 7th place.
After many national, European, world, and Paralympic victories, his nominations for the “Sportsperson of the Year” award (2014, 2015 & 2016) and receiving the “Prix Sport et Handicap” in 2014, time has come to look in to the future: the European Championships in Berlin (2018), the World Championships in 2019 and the Paralympics in Tokyo in 2020.
We do wish Tom all the best of luck and would like to thank him for his support!
