Leonor

Like many young girls, three-year-old Leonor is smitten with the characters and story of Disney’s movie Frozen. Her greatest wish was to celebrate her fourth birthday at a Frozen-themed party, with her eight year old brother playing the role of Olaf and her 15-year-old sister in the character of Anna. However, Leonor’s brain tumor was very aggressive and required that the wish team be flexible and modify the wish.

Leonor and her family traveled to Paris in July, in hopes of new treatment to halt the progression of her illness. As the team received updates, they realized that Leonor’s situation was very grave. Preparing something to lift Leonor’s spirits as she returned to the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg seemed far more important and pressing than planning her party.

The team immediately pulled together a plan to grant a new wish, a transformation of a dreary hospital room to a Frozen winter wonderland. Bedding and decorations were selected and purchased, plush dolls of Elsa and other characters too. Magically, within hours, Leonor’s room was a room fit for a princess and as Leonor lay in her bed, she was comforted and cheered with immense hugs for her Elsa doll. Leonor gave Sylvie, the WISH leader, a smile and caressed Sylvie's face to say, "thank you".

Leonor’s family was overcome with the transformation of her room. The Kanner Wonsch team really created a special welcome home for Leonor and prepared a beautiful place for her to rest.
